Very friendly little pub with lovely food. We visited after a very windy walk on the ridge and it was a perfect location for a hearty lunch. Dog friendly, welcoming staff and tasty food. You couldnt really ask for more. Ample parking nearby too. The fish and chips are excellent as is the toffee pudding.

A lovely dog-friendly pub tucked off the high st in Hungerford with friendly staff and a concise lunch menu of delicious and well presented food. Clean and comfortable interiors with rustic elements and charming touches. A highly recommended pub to visit!
My friend and I went to The Downgate yesterday evening for a meal and a few drinks. The quality of the food was excellent! The staff were extremely pleasant and welcoming, and the atmosphere was just right - not too quiet, not too loud. We had good expectations before we went there, however, we were really impressed with the whole set-up. The Downgate is more than deserving of 5 stars, and I recommend anyone in the Hungerford area to try it! You won't be disappointed!
